Extra Cash Money!!!

So, I know I haven't posted in a while. I've been crazy busy with career-type stuff. I started a new job, have been writing a pilot with one of my fabulous fellow alums AND here's the part where I tell you something you can actually use: I've been finding ways to make extra cash. Now as we all know this economy sucks. Besides unemployment, wages are down and folks are living on less, SO artist or accountant we could all use a bit of extra gwap, right? Don't worry there's no street pharmacy or pole swinging involved...unless that's what you're into, no judgement:)

Mystery Shopping
I work for two mystery shopping companies. I won't say which ones, but email me if you want to know. You're not going to make a ton of money doing this, but you can get some free meals, movies, spa treatments, cruises, and hotel stays in exchange for your detailed feedback. Me and the boyfriend dined at this awesome restaurant last week. The report took about 45 minutes to complete, but for my services, I was reimbursed for our meal and paid $15. Not bad right. Once I do more reviews, I will qualify for the hotel and cruise shops which pay significantly more. There are, however, a LOT of mystery shopper scams out there. Do NOT pay anything up front to be a mystery shopper and give them no credit card info. Also, to make sure the company is legit, check the Mystery Shopping Providers Association. They have a list of companies that have been vetted.

Writing Articles For The Web
Folks who like to write can freelance writing articles for the web.  I work for Demand Studios and have written articles for Ehow and Livestrong.com. The money is not great, usually $15/article, but if you do 5 a month you can pay a cell phone bill with the extra income. Also, you can build a portfolio of samples, that can potentially get you higher paying gigs in the future. If being very creative is important to you, this also might frustrate you because these articles are informational and have to be written to very strict guidelines. Longterm, however, I know some people who are making their entire living freelance writing. And FYI, Demand Studios also has filmmaking jobs that pay better, so if you have shooting and editing skills, you can get paid for that as well.

So that's what I've been up to rather than blogging. However, I will be rededicating some energy back to this blog in the future. So folks, what are things that you do to make extra money? A sister is always looking for a side hustle:)
